Gary Atwood, Interim Director of the Dana Medical Library, and Library Assistant Professor, has been awarded a Medical Library Association (MLA) 2020 Research Institute Fellowship. “The MLA Research Training Institute for Health Sciences Librarians (RTI) was developed to provide practicing health sciences librarians with an opportunity to immerse themselves in instruction and focused activities related to scholarly research, inquiry, and publishing. The institute serves as a cornerstone in helping health sciences librarians change from informed consumers of researchers to producers of quality research.” Professor Atwood was awarded the fellowship through a competitive selection process.
Professor Atwood’s project is to study the information seeking habits of undergraduate nursing students. Specifically, he is interested in exploring what incoming nursing students actually know about the research process and what experiences they have had prior to UVM. The goal is to share this information with faculty so that they can use it when developing research assignments for their classes.
Congratulations, Professor Atwood, and good luck on your project!
