Join us for February Random Chats about Data!

Date:
Wednesday, January 25, 2023

UVM Libraries’ Statistical Design and Data Specialist Maria Sckolnick will be hosting two Random Chats about Data in February. Stop by any one or both of these statistics workshops and join the informal discussion on statistics and data analysis concepts centered around a specific topic.

February 9th, 2023, 11:00am – 12:00pm: Data Collection - sampling techniques, small sample size methodologies, bias.

We will be meeting in the Dana Library Classroom (108) for a conversation about best practices in data collection. Get answers to your questions on how to collect a representative sample, what to do if you have small sample sizes and how to avoid bias.

February 21st, 2023, 9:00am – 10:00am: Finding a good model – model selection, model assumptions, goodness of fit.

We will be meeting in the Howe Library Meeting Room (Howe 001B) for a conversation about methodologies to select an appropriate model, to verify the assumptions and to assess the fit.

Upcoming workshops in March:

March 9, 2023 at Dana library: Data Organization - data cleaning, formatting, management, missing values

March 21, 2023 at Howe library: Statistical Output – interpretation of p-values, test statistics, confidence intervals and parameter estimates
