Danbury Hospital hosted a meeting of the three Western Connecticut Health Network librarians and two Dana Medical Library librarians on August 24. Gary Atwood and Donna O’Malley from Dana met with Mary Shah and Amanda Pomeroy, from Danbury Hospital, and Jill Golrick, librarian at Norwalk Hospital. The five librarians discussed similarities and differences between the services and resources offered to medical students by the three libraries. Dana librarians learned about the availability of many valuable clinical databases at WCHN, such as VisualDx, ClinicalKey, Dynamed, and Nursing Health Reference Center. Other items of note included:
- Heavy use of VisualDx by the emergency department
- UVM medical student use of Dana Library USMLE online subscriptions at WCHN
- WCHN libraries’ website software is Sharepoint, and libraries’ website is available at WCHN network computers only
- The book Made to Stick is currently popular with Clerkship Directors
The librarians are investigating developing shared online guides (on Global Health and Cultural Competence), using the ScholarWorks @ UVM institutional repository for posters from the Belsky poster session hosted at WCHN, and plan to continue communicating.
